Scars depend on person, on age and on the affected wound. Some scars evolve faster than other does and it is the fastest at children. Usually it takes six months, even a year, to get back to the original look. Meanwhile, you can take some action!
How?
For a good cicatrisation, the wound must be very well cleaned. You should keep for a longtime the compression bandage in order to compress the scar, even if it hurts.

If the wound has been stitched, respect the date when you should remove the stitches, because they may leave tracks.
You should massage your scars in order to diminish their size and give them flexibility. Massage regular the scar and the surrounding skin since the beginning of the cicatrisation. As sooner you begin, as ‘prettier’ you scar will be.
During the first year of cicatrisation, you should be careful with the sun exposure: you should use a sunscreen lotion with the biggest protection factor. Rinse your scar with simple water when you get out of the seawater or otherwise, your scar will dry.
Grandma’s Folk Remedies
These fast and simple recipes can prove themselves useful in the cicatrisation of wounds. But beware! They give results only on small wounds. For sever cases you should ask doctor’s advice.
* Honey. With antibacterial and healing properties, honey fastens the cicatrisation process, sterilizes the wound and eases the pain.
- apply as bandage
Clean the wound with physiologic serum, then apply a layer of honey and cover it with sterile bandages. The role of the bandage is essential for a good cicatrisation. The bandage should be occlusive, closed on the wound, because humidity stops cicatrisation. Change it every day if necessary.
* Clay. This miraculous clay has healing properties, it purifies and hydrates all types of skin.
- apply as poultice
to prepare the poultice, put the clay in a recipient (avoid metal or plastic) and mix with water until you get a thick paste. Apply it directly onto the skin. After use, throw it away: the clay will be full with toxins and its reuse will only do you harm. For a dried skin, you can mix some drops of olive oil with the clay and then add the water until you’ll get an ointment.
Good to Know
Scars provoked by acne, red-violet in color, need one or two years to disappear, only if they are plate, not in relief. Therefore, be patient!
Beware of the scars of the skin folds, like those on elbow and knees, which can deform because of the movement.
